NORTH LOGAN – Officials here have scheduled a fundraising concert and silent auction to benefit a local boy stricken with thyroid cancer.

The Henry Wallis Benefit Concert and Silent Auction is slated for Tuesday, July 30 at the football field at Green Canyon High School.

All proceeds from that event will go the Wallis family to help defray their son’s medical expenses.

Performing at the concert will be Susie Brown and Joaby Parker with Mile Marker 6.

Originally from the Utah town of Alpine, Ms. Brown started playing the fiddle at the age of 4 and quickly developed a passion for music. In addition to the fiddle, she is accomplished on guitar, mandolin, ukulele, accordion and bass.

Ms. Brown has performed as the opener for some of the country music industry’s top acts, including Blake Shelton, Jason Aldean, Brad Paisley, Rascal Flats and many others.

As a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Ms. Brown continues to inspire others by public speaking, teaching music lessons and helping others compose their own music.

With lead man Joaby Parker, Mile Marker 6 is one of northern Utah’s best-known country bands. Their members include Parker, Melissa Keller, Lyndi Benson, Sam Bryson and Rich Hansen.

Organized more than a decade ago, they have shared the stage with top country music acts including Kelsea Ballerini, Sawyer Brown, Kelly Pickler, Eric Paslay and  Billy Dean.

The gates of the Green Canyon football stadium will open at 7 p.m., with the concert to start at 8 p.m.
